With the fairly new release of various touch-screen devices like Apple's iPad, the Samsung Galaxy-S and the Flip Touch, I feel compelled to lodge a few complaints. Okay, first of all, my finger is big and sweaty. It sticks to the screen, leaves smudges all over the place and thereby lacks the pinpoint functionality of the stylus -- which has gone out of style with the palm pilot. Touch is a great idea, but let's face it, it's completely unnecessary. Sure, it's sleekness and button-free curb appeal is a definite shoe-in for electronics consumers...but the unnerving experience of operating a device that's powered by your finger will leave you wishing for a switch or a knob or a lever of some kind. Call me old fashioned, but I need a button to push.
